April 13th is the start of the Thai New Year, when the Songkran Festival begins. It’s a traditional festival when families come together, to share in water blessings and in the past there’s always been the fun water fights.
This year you’ll still find the Songrak festivals at the temples, and many resorts and hotels will have their own Songkran celebrations. The weather on Samui is quite warm in April, so we find it’s a great time to get out for a Sunrise Paddle tour – before all of the Thai New Year festivities begin.
Wishing you a safe, happy and healthy Songkran!
