Supporting local business in Samui

Nov 30 2019

There’s a few local businesses in Samui that we’d like to give a shout out to… and can recommend them if you’re on holiday or living here.

Health & Fitness

The Yogarden – Tammy’s favourite yoga studio is an openair sala in a private garden in Boput Fisherman’s Village.  Fresh juice, smoothies and healthy meals are prepared in the 100+ year old teak house next door.  Friendly spot to hangout if you have time after class.

Lamai Beach Crossfit  / Samui Fitness Retreat – Our friends in the south love the group training classes run by trainer Mike at Lamai Beach Fitness, and they’ve achieved great results this year.  They also run Fitness Retreats which include fun activities such as Stand Up Paddleboarding and Hiking in the jungle.

Samui Home Clinic – Our local GP is the best!  A great little clinic run by a professional, English speaking GP.  Located in Bangrak, next to the Samui Pier Resort.

Fresh Spirulina Paste – Raja places a special order once a month, bringing the product down to Samui from Bangkok by air freight.  Contact Raja to place your order – mobile 089 730 0746, or search for Raja Tamaran on Messenger.

Home Interiors & Fashion

Moon Interiors – you’ll find 3 floors of furniture, soft furnishings, decor and home gifts in the Moon Interiors shop at Samui Town Centre.  A lot of the furniture has been imported from India, and will be one of a kind here in Samui.

Kosamuckis Interior – a lovely little home interiors shop located just off Soi Bandon, opposite the Aspira Samui Hotel. Scandinavian inspired homewares, Christmas decor, candles, wine glasses and home-baked German Christmas cookies.

Ms Carino – contemporary resortwear meets bohemian Bali inspired fashion.  You’ll find a great range of dresses, skirts, tops, pants, jumpsuits, jewellery and handmade products in the Ms Carino shops in Bophut.  Plus clothing for kids too!  There’s one shop in The Wharf, and one shop in Fisherman’s Village.

Taiwaree Summer Lifestyle – a boutique online linen fashion brand with a range of linen clothing ideal for tropical island life.  Taiwaree designs her own linen clothes and sells them online at https://taiwaree.com/

Food & Drinks

Bangrak Minimart – better than any corner store, they have a wide range of food, drinks and snacks.  Also fresh bread and a great range of wine, beer and spirits (best price on Samui, perhaps?).  Located on the Bangrak beach road, opposite Petcherat Marina.  And they offer free delivery if you are in Bangrak & Plai Laem areas.

The Lucky Cow – homemade greek yoghurt, feta cheese, hummus, tahini and pita bread.  Yum!  Next door to Makro in Chaweng.  You can also find Lucky Cow products in Bangrak Minimart.

Merchant Gourmet Food – a fab place to buy bacon, sausages, parma ham, steak, tuna and loads of cheeses and cold meat.  Located on the ring road in Lamai.

French Delights – home made sausages, pate and smoked salmon, bread and cheese.  Plus they have pre-cooked meals and desserts.  In Bangrak, between Big Buddha and the Bangrak market.

Car Hire

ID Scooter & Car Rental – they are based in Bangrak, and will bring the bikes/cars up to your villa if you’re staying in the north-east.  You don’t need to leave your passport with them which is good – but you will need to show your car/bike licence.  Call Ian on 081 081 0340.

Villa Maintenance

Ecopest Samui – professional, pet-friendly pest control, to get rid of the bugs and insects!

Great to catch up with friends from Suratthani, first time to the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and savour the taste of Dim Sum that’s more easily found in southern Thailand.

We’re back on Samui now, and Sunrise and Sunset paddles are back on! Contact us now to book on for a Paddleboard lesson or tour.

The Sunrise paddle board tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to Koh Samui. Thoroughly enjoyed by us and our teen aged children. Can't recommend it enough. A trip to Choeng Mon beach is not complete without a paddle board trip with Ian.

Thank you for the review Denish.
