Our Top 10 Favourite Things to Do in Koh Samui (2026 Update)

Welcome to our personal guide to Koh Samui. After years of exploring every corner of this island, we get asked one question all the time: “What are the things we really shouldn’t miss?”

There are hundreds of travel blogs out there, but this is our list. These are our personal, tried-and-tested favourite spots and activities—the places we take our own friends and family when they visit. We hope you love them as much as we do.

Our 10 Favourite Samui Experiences

  1. Visit the Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai)
No trip to Samui is complete without visiting its most famous landmark. The 12-meter-high golden statue is an active place of worship and offers stunning views of the coastline. As a special bonus for our guests, you’ll get a unique sea-level view of the statue as we glide past on our serene Sunrise Paddle Tours.
  2. Go on a Sunrise or Sunset Paddleboard Tour
We’re biased, of course, but we believe there is no better way to experience the island’s beauty. Escaping the crowds to watch the sky light up in glorious colours from the tranquility of the water is a memory that will stay with you long after your holiday ends. It’s a peaceful, powerful, and truly special experience.
  3. Explore Ang Thong Marine Park
This breathtaking archipelago of 42 islands is a must-see. For an unforgettable day trip, we always recommend the team at 100 Degrees East. They run fantastic small-group speedboat tours that get you away from the crowds, which is why we love them.
  4. Chill at Pi Samui Beach Club (Choeng Mon)
For a perfect beach day, head to Pi Samui on Choeng Mon beach. It has a fantastic, chilled-out beach club vibe, great food, and is perfect for relaxing by the water. This beautiful spot is our home base for SUP tours between April and October, so we know firsthand how calm and inviting the water is here.
  5. Live Music and Sunset at Secret Garden
This is one of our go-to spots for a perfect evening. Secret Garden Beach Resort in Bangrak hosts some of the island’s best musicians for live music sessions right on the beach. It’s an unbeatable combination: a sunset drink, your feet in the sand, and incredible live tunes.
  6. Indulge at น้ำจิ้มซีฟู้ด Namjim Seafood
For a truly authentic Thai seafood meal, this is the place. It’s a simple, local restaurant that serves incredibly fresh fish, prawns, and squid with fiery, flavourful sauces. It’s not a fancy tourist spot—it’s where locals go for delicious, genuine seafood.
  7. Have the Perfect Breakfast at SOL
For one of the best breakfasts on the island, head to SOL Bake•Brew•Bites in Choeng Mon. This charming cafe serves up incredible coffee, fresh pastries, and delicious, hearty brunch options in a warm, inviting space. It’s a local favourite and the perfect start to any day.
  8. Get Active at Padel Samui
Try the fastest-growing racket sport in the world! Padel Samui is a world-class facility with courts for Padel, Pickleball, and Tennis. It’s a super fun and social way to get a workout in. Stay on after your game for their fantastic coffee and delicious Mexican food.
  9. Drop in for a Workout at Koh Samui Crossfit
If you want to stay on top of your fitness during your holiday, the team at Koh Samui Crossfit are incredibly welcoming to visiting athletes. Drop in for one of their classes or use the open gym to get your sweat on.
  10. Discover Wat Plai Laem
Just a short drive from the Big Buddha, this stunning temple complex feels like another world. It features a striking 18-armed statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, and is surrounded by a lake teeming with fish, which you can feed for a small donation. The intricate, colourful architecture is beautiful to explore.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the island vibes of Koh Samui — see you on the water!
